With the traditional calling cards long out of style these days, business cards remain an important component in any workplace. It is important that your business cards exude professionalism because it is often the first thing that your prospect comes in contact with and they use your cards to sum up your professionalism. These little cards can bridge communication between your customers and you. They will serve as an introduction for your business.
You can always design and print your own business card. This would be easy for you to obtain but keep in mind that computer generated business cards will always look like computer generated. With this in mind, you can always ask for the services of professional printing companies to create and print your cards. A professionally printed business card will exude professionalism. Likewise, professional printers are more familiar with the designs that are suitable for the standard of your company because they have encountered a lot of business cards printing projects in the past. Thus, their experience will greatly help you create a stunning and professional looking business card.
The cost of printing business cards from printing companies is always a concern for many businesses. But the fact is the money you spend on professional looking business cards will be a solid investment for your own future.
Aside from being cost-effective business cards are a potent way to stay in front of your customers. One way of making them attractive is to include quotes. It could be a motivational saying or anything that you think will interest your prospects. But make sure that you have all the necessary information in your cars such as your NAME &ndash this is very important as it carries your image and identity. Your name will be useful for your customers to know who they must contact. JOB TITLE &ndash the job title will tell your customers what kind of job you do and if your services suit their project. CONTACT NUMBERS &ndash this is very important because this is how your customers will contact you. ADDRESS &ndash also important because if all fails your customers will have another option to reach you. BUSINESS NAME &ndash having a unique name will be easily remembered by your customers.
So remember it all starts with these little cards and next to it is recognition. Thus, don’t underestimate the substantial benefits of these tangible objects.

The Significance of Brochures
Posted by Writing Service in Writing Service on 03 16th, 2008Brochures are a great form of advertisement and a great way of selling products and services. They have been proven effective for promoting products and steering customers toward purchasing a particular product or availing of a particular service. Let’s say you own a hotel in a highly urban area with competitors in just about every corner of the city. Since competition is stiff you have to think of ways to advertise your hotel in a way that will make it stand out among your competitors. Of course, you can do it by giving discounts, special offers or offering free breakfast to visitors.
But some hotel owners especially small hotels think that they do not need to advertise as it will cost them thousands of dollars just to print a few copies of brochures. This should not be the case. Hotels should be advertised as hotels sell something to the public. They are public necessities and every day there are a lot of travelers looking for such service. And good advertising will show where this service can be availed. Aside from good service and affordable prices, one of the best ways to increase patronage is through promotional materials. A good brochure can tell a lot about the hotel. It can effectively tell the story about the good accommodation and moderate prices to a lot of people likely to avail of them.
If you are a winter resort hotel then organizing and printing your brochures at the beginning of the season can ensure that they reach your prospects in time for the winter holidays. Creating an advertising material for a hotel is easy. You can include the location, accessibility, service, management, rates, scenery and other details in pleasing and colorful promotional materials. But most hotel owners are concerned about the price of printing these materials. But the introduction of the Internet offered a lot of options to business owners today. There are thousands of printing companies online that can print your materials quickly and in low prices. Since most regular printing companies are looking for longer runs, they generally do not take up smaller print jobs because there is no profit in using larger machines to run small quantities. But most online shops accepts smaller print jobs so when you need only a few copies of brochures you can explore your opportunities with these virtual shops.
Thus, if you want to seriously increase your profits, then it is time you seriously think of increasing your guests. Set up brochures that can effectively market your services. And do careful planning and research to avail of printing services at affordable prices.
The Offset Process of Book Printing
Posted by Writing Service in Writing Service on 02 13th, 2008Books have been a part of people’s lives. They provide us knowledge, information and different stories. They make us laugh, cry and even bring us inspiring tales. This is perhaps why books have a special niche in the printing industry. Hence, they are carefully and effectively produced and designed to make a lasting impression to its readers.
Books are usually printed using standard paper and sizes. And to make sure that they are printed the way a publisher wants them, they have to select the right printer that offers economical print pricing.
Offset printing has been the printing process used for years in book printing. Compared to digital printing that offers fixed cost per unit, offset printing offer a more flexible pricing scheme. This means that the more you print, the lower the cost per unit. This is perhaps why even though digital printing is recently gaining popularity in the printing industry most publishers still avail of offset printing.
There are basically three types of offset press. This includes web press, sheetfeed press and belt press. The web press process makes use of paper in a large roll that is continuously fed at high speed. The papers are then chopped and folded constantly and emerge into ‘signatures’ or 32-page sections. This type of press is relatively the most cost effective print process that uses one color jobs and runs as much as five thousands prints.
The belt press, on the other hand, is usually used for magazines and trade books. This process uses the web press process and makes use of binding. As a result paperbacks materialize completely at the end of the process while hardcovers only need jacket to complete the printing process. Conversely, the sheetfeed press is the slowest process among the three offset printing processes. This is because it prints one sheet at a time. Nonetheless, this is the only process that produces the highest quality and is best for short print runs ranging from two thousand to three thousand copies.
Needless to say, the choice of printing process to use in your book printing is basically up to you. You have to carefully consider your printing needs before deciding which process to avail. But of course, before deciding the printing process to use you have to choose the book printer to do the job for you. This can be a lengthy and difficult process. But just the same, when you have carefully chosen the printer and the printing process, it can reduce your worry of not having quality book printing.
Keeping and Gaining Customers Using Postcards
Posted by Writing Service in Writing Service on 02 7th, 2008To write a good advertisement you must have a keen interest in the products themselves. You have to handle them, fondle them and get acquainted with them. And when you have grasped the right sort of impression let them flow naturally from your pen.
For most businesses creating a successful promotional material is difficult. They have to see to it that their material appeals to their customers. Aside from this, they have to make sure that their budget is enough to produce the promotional material that they want. For some business owners the marketing ability of postcards works for them effectively. Postcards are perfect for businesses seeking for an efficient and affordable way to promote their products.
Aside from promoting your products and services, postcards are also effective in keeping in touch with your customers to let them know that you appreciate them and haven’t forgotten about them. In addition, postcards are a good way to maintain contact with your customers without being a nag. With a design and message that is positive, interesting and creative, you can add a little fun to the recipient’s day.
Postcards can also be used to introduce your products or services to wholesale buyers. You will likely be competing with much older business; hence, it is important to have a unique and professional presentation. A full color catalog or brochure would be nice but very expensive to produce. For this reason, sending a postcard that shows your work in full color along with your sales materials and price lists can be a good idea. Likewise, if your products or works are shown in galleries, you can use postcards to use as handouts. This will assist the gallery in promoting your work. In this case, it may be in your best interest not to include your contact information on the card.
Similarly, keeping in touch is perhaps the best way to make sure that your customers don’t forget about you. It is common for most business to do nothing after gaining a new customer. They just hope that the customer will come back. Bad idea. Think about it this way. How many times have you seen an ad on TV or received something in the mail and you said to yourself that it was a good idea and you need to look into that. However, the next day you forget about it and never take action. This is common to most people. That is why it is better to mail your customers regularly not just mail them once or twice. Keep mind that it takes three or four contacts with a customer before they are willing to do business with you. It’s astonishing what kind of growth you can achieve if you get a few of your customers to make additional purchase or two throughout the year. So, work on that postcards and contact your customers to ensure that they keep coming back to you over and over again. In business, there is nothing better than that.
Print On Demand versus Short Run Printing
Posted by Writing Service in Writing Service on 11 11th, 2007Print on demand is a new way printing technology that makes the production of a certain very low print runs possible. The ultimate in print on demand is the production of one copy at a time. This is only possible using new digital printing techniques. Unlike the so called short run printing, it defines traditional printing in small numbers for a very limited stockholding; while on demand printing enables the printing as a specific response to a customer order, thus, on demand prints will never go into stock.
As a formal definition of print on demand and short run printing is that &ndash print on demand is a fairly recent technology that uses digital printing techniques to produce standard print books in a rapid and cost-effective process. While short run printing is a traditional way of printing for just what its name imply - a short print run. It means that in traditional printing, the more quantity you print in one run, the cheaper the cost of each unit.
The advantage and disadvantage of print on demand: The main advantage of print on demand is that the cost of printing does not occur first. Therefore, the initial cost of inventory is only the cost of setting up the digital files to print the book when an order occurs. One disadvantage is that it takes a very large investment to control quality and to manage the flow of books printed one copy at a time. A second disadvantage is that bookstores and wholesalers do not order stock of books printed one at a time. Therefore such books are always “special order”, which diminishes sales. Higher unit production costs, compared with offset, can also make it difficult to give a book an attractive retail price.
Also short run printing has its own advantage and disadvantage: One advantage is that its better quality control and potentially lower unit cost, compared to print on demand. Another is that it allows production of stock for wholesalers and retailers to order, which they do. Its disadvantages: short run printing does not totally eliminate warehousing and inventory costs as one off print on demand does.
The best use of the print on demand is from the point of converting thousands of titles to one at a time print on demand availability, increasing sales and reducing warehousing costs. While short run printing is best used
a) when the title is expected to sell more than 100 but fewer than 1,000 copies per year
b) when the publisher wishes to minimize the initial investment in a title, but wishes to sell through bookstores. According to statistics, small publishers release about 50,000 new titles per year. The average number of copies printed is 3,800; the average life of the book is nine years, or 420 sold per year. For many of these 50,000 titles short run is optimum because of the savings in initial printing costs and storage costs&ndashespecially considering that if demand actually justifies it, the publisher can switch from short run to offset at any time.
Digital Printing + Short Run Process
Posted by Writing Service in Writing Service on 08 18th, 2007When you need brochures, postcards, business cards or posters printing in small quantities and fast turnaround time, who do you turn to? Surely not The Flash, your comic superhero that possess “super-speed” power. In needs like these you need to turn to your modern day super heroes &ndash the short run printing companies.
Short run printing is a great way to print smaller quantities of products that will change occasionally or that are needed right away. This printing technology is also known as “Print on Demand”. With the document taken straight from disc to press, digital short run printing removes the expense of making plates necessary with traditional print. Hence, this means that small numbers of print jobs can be done cost effectively. Additionally, you can save thousands of dollars and enjoy other advantages like shorter lead-time and personalization.
For some people using short run digital printing systems cost much, does little and has no market. But on the other hand, some people claimed that this technology has redefined their business. This short run technology has transitioned their industry into a more profitable company.
So why use short run digital printing? The answer is simple, it is cost effective. This printing technology provides the quality of conventional lithography printing without the need of having to order large volumes to make up for the cost of printing. Because they can also be personalized they are likewise ideal for direct mail.
Digital printing has been a door opener for many businesses. Because printers sell the same thing as everyone else, everyone tries to claim that their service, quality and price are better than others. For this reason, every printer has to find something that would separate them from everyone else. And some business owners find that they have increased productivity after using digital technology and short run processes. Somehow, these gains can be credited to a combination of better pricing and more efficient press performance.
Let’s say you have greeting cards that need to be printed. Obsolete inventory through the use of short run digital press can be eliminated. This is because with this technology you can print only the needed cards, thus, resulting to orders printed in the exact quantity required. But just the same this kind of printing system is not for everyone. There are risks and changes that need to be dealt with.
Nevertheless, the printing industry will continue to change and improve in the years to come. Thus, all business owners and companies have to do is to determine whether this certain printing technique is what they need.

Posted by Writing Service in Writing Service on 06 24th, 2007There are instances when you can print your materials effectively with the use of your desktop printer. But when you need to go beyond the services of your desktop printer you will need the help of commercial printing companies. These companies have commercial printing techniques that can promote your products, communicate your message and enhance your image to attract attention at an affordable price. You would also want to consider a commercial printer when you have special color considerations in your material. But before ordering your print job, check with your commercial printing company and ask how they would go about your project. Ask also how much it will cost you to print the material with them.
It is perhaps a better idea to consider commercial printing when you need the highest quality of printing for your project, when you need large number of copies, when your materials needs to be folded, stapled and bounded, when it needs foil stamping, embossing or die cutting and when you need special paper. Today, commercial printing technology includes tradition offset printing and digital printing. Although digital technology is gaining more popularity these days, lithography is still widely used in most print shops. Advantages of traditional offset printing include quality, flexibility, cost and speed. Unit costs with this type of printing are much lower than digital printing even though there are significant set-up costs. The bottom line is the more you communicate with the designer and the printer, the better your chance of meeting your printing needs and your deadline. With the speed at which the business industry is moving, everything needs to be done as fast as possible but at good quality and competitive price. With the technology and equipment available at commercial printers today, fast turnaround times are possible to meet every individual or business printing need.
